Hi, my name is Richard Veenstra

I’m a composer, sound designer, and music producer based in Berlin. I compose music for various media, whether it’s alone or with my creative team the lime machine. I have composed music for tv-spots, theater productions, radio dramas, documentaries, and animation movies. Clients include ARD, the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, NPS, Nederlandse Dansdagen, RBB, and Tatort. My compositions have been aired on radio stations in Europe, and autonomous works have been performed at the Concertgebouw aan ‘t IJ Amsterdam (NL), Nicolai Church Utrecht (NL), and Radio Svizzera Italiana (CH).

Games, tv-spots, and animation movies come to life with the addition of quality sound design. Together with the lime machine, I made sound effects and musical themes for wooga’s Facebook games Happy Hospital and Magic Land, which already attract millions of players every month. For OLX, one of the largest classifieds sites in the world, the lime machine created sounds for their successful viral animation movie ’32000 Years Before OLX’.

I produce and remix tracks for artists and bands. In 2008, my production-duo Sonic Me won the FOEM remix competition. As a result of this, the Sonic Me remix of Robert Babicz ́s track Basic got released on vinyl. The record got excellent reviews and was included in podcasts, mixes and DJ-sets around the globe. I have done remixes for Universal Music, Tanzbar Musik, and BlackLabel Records, and artists like White Lies, Krause, De Staat, and Moke. As a synth player and music nerd, I tour with bands and artists. At the moment I play with Thomas Azier, I have played with De La Montaña, Drillem, the Riplets, Elle Bandita, and DJ Lady Aida.
Apart from creating sounds and music, I also write and teach about music. I am a reviewer of new hardware and software products, and writer of in-depth articles on various music production techniques. These articles have been featured in various magazines in the Netherlands and Belgium: Interface, MacFan, Computer!Totaal, iPhone Magazine, Tips & Trucs, Clickx, and Bright. I do workshops and guest lectures on conservatories, schools, and music institutions in the Netherlands and Germany.
